Mobility
Please note our ground floor bedrooms are not suitable for those entirely reliant on wheelchairs whilst inside the house.
The hotel has a gravelled car park. The porch is accessed by stepping up 13cms (approx 5 inches). To move from the porch to the reception area involves a step down of only 3cms (1 and a quarter inches).
There is level access to the dining room, conservatory and bar area. The garden area can be accessed by stepping out of the UPVC door threshold to the concrete path of the garden. The height to step over the frame is 10cms (4 inches). There is wooden garden furniture.
We have rooms on the ground floor and rooms on the first floor. We do not have a lift.
The stairs are 81cms (2 ft 8”) wide. They have risers of 18cms (7 inches) and the treads are 28cm (11 inches) deep. There are 11 stairs to the half-landing and then another 8 stairs. The stairs have a solid mahogany handrail.
Whilst we have ground floor rooms (two singles and a room which can be let as a double/twin/family room), the construction of the wing containing these rooms (built in 1970s) means that the corridors, bedroom and bathroom entrances are too narrow for wheelchair users.
The ground floor rooms are therefore suitable for people with limited mobility who cannot manage the stairs but are not suitable for wheelchair users. The ground floor rooms all have en-suite showers.
