ACCESS STATEMENT: AMBER HOUSE

The hotel has a gravelled car park. The porch is accessed by stepping up 13cms (approx 5). To move from the porch to the reception area involves a step down of only 3cms (1¼). There is level access to the dining room, conservatory and bar area. The garden area can be accessed by stepping out of the UPVC door threshold to the concrete path of the garden. The height to step over the frame is 10cms (4). There is wooden garden furniture.

We have rooms on the ground floor and rooms on the first floor. We do not have a lift.

The stairs are 81cms (2ft 8) wide. They have risers of 18cms (7) and the treads are 28cm (11) deep. There are 11 stairs to the half-landing and then another 8 stairs. The stairs have a solid mahogany handrail.

Whilst we have ground floor rooms (two singles and a room which can be let as a double/twin/family room), the construction of the wing containing these rooms (built in 1970s) means that the corridors, bedroom and bathroom entrances are too narrow for wheelchair users.

The ground floor rooms are therefore suitable for people with limited mobility who cannot manage the stairs but are not suitable for wheelchair users. The ground floor rooms all have en-suite showers.

ROCKPOOL
has two en-suite shower rooms. Both shower enclosures have a raised shower tray with a total step up of 27cms (10½). One does not have clear access as there is a hand basin in front of the shower enclosure. The width of the bathroom doors is 54cms (1ft 9)

COVE
has a lip in the shower enclosure of 10cms (4). You step down into the shower tray. The total height of the shower enclosure is 190cms (6ft 3) and is therefore not suitable for tall people. The width of the bathroom door is 66cms (26)

SKY
has a lip on the shower enclosure of 16cm (6½). You step over it and down into the shower tray. There is no height restriction. The width of the bathroom door is 54cms (1ft 9) We supply rubberised non-slip mats for the showers if required.
